Responsibilities include planning and prioritizing cataloging activities; copy and original cataloging of new acquisitions and retrospective materials in all formats using OCLC and the local online catalog; cataloging of foreign language materials, particularly in Spanish. Responsible for collection development in social and behavioral sciences; serves as a liaison to the faculty in these disciplines. Serves on library and university committees as appointed or elected. All UTEP Librarians are expected to demonstrate continued professional development and involvement in professional activities. REQUIRED: ALA accredited MLS; three years professional experience and one year supervisory experience; background in behavioral or social sciences; thorough knowledge of AACR2, Library of Congress classification and subject headings, and automated cataloging operations; excellent written and oral communication skills. Preferred: additional subject masters degree in social or behavioral science disciplines; Spanish language competency. The University of Texas at El Paso is a commuter campus with over 16,000 students and 700 faculty. The modern, six-floor Library building houses a collection of over 800,000 volumes. Staff consists of 23 professionals, 46 support staff and 90 student assistants.
