Donna,
We catalog (and have been for nearly 10 years) and circulate most, if not
of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station's stuff. I have no idea how
heavily they circulate (although I know that they *do* circulate), but we
pretty much handle how they go on the shelves in a case by case manner.
The vast majority go into the collection as they are, but if the item is
very small or flimsy, we either velobind or pamphlet bind the items.
Some of the items come to us through the Texas State Documents Depository
program, which is largely flimsy stuff, and is shelved separately, so very
few of those items get any special treatment. Some of the items are
designated by the program as leaflets and wind up in the Documents' vertical
files. But we have quite a large number that still wind up in the
regular circulating stacks. So far, we have had no big problems.
Hope this helps you some.
