Bowker/Ulrich's Serials Librarianship Award Nominations
Sought

Nominations are now open for the 1997 Bowker/Ulrich's Serials
Librarianship Award, presented by the ALCTS (Association for
Library Collections and Technical Services), Serials Section
and sponsored by the R.R. Bowker Company. The award is
annually bestowed on individuals in recognition of their
distinguished contributions to serials librarianship,
including but not limited to those made within the previous
three years, demonstrated by such activities as leadership in
serials-related activities through participation in
professional associations and/or library education programs,
contributions to the body of serials literature, conduct of
research in the area of serials, development of tools or
methods to enhance access to or management of serials, or
other advances leading to a better understanding of the field
of serials. The award may be shared by two or more
individuals who have participated in the achievement for
which it is granted.

Past winners of Bowker/Ulrich's Serials Librarianship Award
are Marcia Tuttle, Ruth C. Carter, James P. Danky, Marjorie
E. Bloss, John E. Merriman, Jean S. Cook, Deana L.
Astle/Charles A. Hamaker, Linda K. Bartley, Ann L. Okerson,
Tina Feick, Peter Gellatly, and Jean L. Hirons.

Nominations for the Bowker/Ulrich's Award should include a
formal letter of nomination, the nominee's curriculum vitae
or a narrative career outline upon which the committee can
base its determinations, letters supporting the nomination,
and up to three examples of the nominee's publications.
Completeness of documentation is desirable, but the number of
letters received for any candidate is not as important as
evidence of accomplishment.

Submit nominations no later than December 1, 1996, to:
