We have tried a number of different arrangements for accepting serials as
gifts from faculty, departments and colleges. The most successful method
has been for the library to order the serial from a vendor and have them
ship the serial to our Serials Receiving Unit while billing directly to the
donor.

We also accept gifts in other ways--donations after use by the
subscriber, after the volume is complete, or after a year or two has
passed, etc.--but we like the method described first for obvious
reasons. We establish at the outset that the Library is not obligated to
continue a gift subscription if the donor stops paying for it.
