HEAD, ACQUISITIONS AND CATALOGING SERVICES

The University of Texas at Arlington Libraries invites applications
and nominations for the position of Head of Acquisitions and
Cataloging Services.  This position directs, supervises, and
participates in the operations and administration of Acquisitions and
Cataloging Services, the department responsible for acquiring and
making accessible monographic, serial, government publications, and
non-print materials, as well as electronic resources.

The department consists of 6 professionals and 19 classified staff
and is organized in a team environment, with team leaders reporting
to this position.  The Libraries are planning for a migration from
NOTIS to a state-of-the-art library management system.  This position
reports to the Associate Director for Library Services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Master's degree from an ALA accredited
program.  A minimum of five years recent cataloging, acquisitions,
and/or serials experience in academic libraries with two years
progressively responsible experience in the administration of one or
more of these departments.  Demonstrated leadership skills,
organizational ability, outstanding communication and interpersonal
skills, knowledge of standards, codes and techniques applicable to
cataloging are necessary.  Experience with an automated acquisitions
and cataloging system as well as knowledge of a bibliographic utility
such as OCLC or RLIN.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience working in an organization that
combined acquisitions and cataloging within a single department.
Experience in the migration from NOTIS to another system.

SALARY:  Negotiable to the mid $40,000's, depending upon
qualifications.  Includes a comprehensive benefits package.
