Responsibilities: Responsible for the acquisition of library materials in all formats. Oversight of all activities related to searching, ordering, receiving, claiming, binding, and fiscal control. Oversees firm order, approval, continuation, and gift operations, both in a traditional environment and where selective outsourcing is used. Maintains fund accounting on local system (Innovative Interfaces), and monitors the expenditure of funds. Formulates goals, priorities, policies, and procedures for Acquisitions (5.5 FTE) and Serials (2.5 FTE) Departments. Maintains effective relationships with vendors and monitors vendor performance. Provides initiative and leadership in acquiring electronic resources. Participates in collection development and supports collection development activities with analysis of acquisitions information and preparation of financial statements. This is a faculty rank, tenure track appointment. Reports to the Director of Technical Services. Qualifications: ALA accredited M.L.S. Three years professional serials and/or acquisitions experience in an automated environment, preferably Innovative Interfaces. Experience with vendors for print, non-print, and electronic resources, and vendors providing processed and cataloged materials. Current awareness of information technologies related to acquisitions and serials control. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Successful supervisory experience. Ability to manage and exercise leadership in a rapidly changing, technological environment. Demonstrated interest in professional activities needed to meet university requirements for promotion and tenure. Salary: Minimum $42,000 for 12 month appointment. Fringes: TIAA/CREF and other retirement options; 24 working days vacation per year; generous sick leave; no State income tax.
