Position: Job No. A-00994 Associate Librarian I (Electronic/Continuations Cataloger) Full-time Librarian (non-tenure track) Reports to: Head of Cataloging Responsibilities: Provides high-quality cataloging of electronic resources, as well as serial and monographic continuations, to facilitate public access to the Library's collection and information resources. Responsibilities will include the creation of original or adaptation of existing catalog records for materials issued in continuing formats, including computer files and Internet-accessible resources; development and maintainance of quality control procedures for cataloging and processing of materials; assistance in the development of automated bibliographic databases; and other special projects and related duties. Qualifications: Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school required; experience in a cataloging department or technical services setting preferred. Must have experience with OCLC or another bibliographic utility; knowledge of AACR2; knowledge of USMARC bibliographic, authority, and holdings formats; knowledge of Library of Congress and National Library of Medicine policies and procedures, and Library of Congress classification schedules and practices. Good written and oral communication skills are essential.
