Hello, Susan Sturgeon:

I can assure you that your wondering about automated serials check-in at
the Library of Congress is not "very naive".  Our check in operation is
still manual. We are hoping to remedy this, and other of our automation
problems, by introducing an integrated library system within the next few
years.
