                ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIAN -- SEARCH REOPENED

     The Mary Couts Burnett Library of Texas Christian University invites
     applications for the position of Acquisitions Librarian. The successful
     candidate will set goals and establish priorities to guide the library
     in meeting challenges of  changing print and electronic publishing. The
     library's materials budget is  $2M with monographic acquisitions of
     15,000 titles annually,excluding documents. The library uses DRA and
     receives its cataloging from OCLC. Responsibilities in this position
     includes acquisitions of library materials, excluding documents;
     supervision of 5 employees; budget responsibility; staff support and
     training; and oversight of approval plans. This department works closely
     with collection development, periodicals, and cataloging. Currently,
     the library uses the DRA system for ordering all formats except serials
     and intends to automate serials acquisitions during 1998.

      Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS degree;  2-5 years of post MLS,
      progressively-responsible, technical services leadership/management;
      acquisitions experience, preferably in an academic or research library;
      strong collaborative and collegial skills;  demonstrated planning
      skills;  creativity in the application of technology to library
      workflow; experience with OCLC; familiarity with integrated library
      systems, preferably DRA; superior oral and written communications
      skills; commitment to excellence in service; and demonstrated
      supervisory skills. Salary:  $30,00 - $34,000. Generous benefits.
