JOURNALS SUBSCRIPTION FULFILLMENT MANAGER
Salary: $30,900 -38,600 (Range midpoint) depending on experience

The University of California Press Journals Division seeks an experienced
and energetic full-time Subscription Fulfillment Mgr/Customer Service
Manager for fulfillment and customer service operations for its growing
list of scholarly journals.

Essential functions: Under the general direction of the Marketing Manager
of the Journals Division, this position is responsible for the day-to-day
management of the fulfillment customer service unit of the Journals
division. Supervise four customer service staff. Develop and implement
procedures to ensure consistent level of customer service and accuracy of
database of 85,000 customers for 33 journals. Manage membership services
for all client associations. Oversee customer file maintenance in
accordance with Division financial and marketing goals. Supervise
preparation of all audit information derived from fulfillment database. Act
as liaison with U.S. Post Office regarding regulations and postal audits.
Work in conjunction with Journals Director and Marketing Manager to develop
long range strategy for the further development of fulfillment/customer
service function.

Marketing & Analysis: Develop and oversee implementation of renewal efforts
and new subscriber promotions. Provide detailed reports of response to
marketing campaigns. Ensure continuous operation of subscription
fulfillment computer equipment.

 Skills, knowledge and abilities: Solid grounding in overall principles of
journals or circulation based publishing and business practices. Knowledge
of financial management, accounting practices and budgeting required.
Demonstrated ability to do long range planning and forecasting. Must have
keen analytical skills including ability to compile, analyze and interpret
complex statistical data. Attention to details and demonstrated ability to
set and meet deadlines essential. Computer literacy in PC environment and
experience using MS Word, Excel, Access and FileMaker Pro. Must possess the
initiative to recommend and implement improvement of circulation
fulfillment systems and have excellent communication skills. Prior
experience with University and publishing very desirable.
