The Virginia Library Association's Paraprofessional Forum seeks nominations for two awards to be presented in conjunction with the Forum's 1998 Spring Conference to be held on May 18-19, 1998. The "Evelyn Kimball Scholarship," established in 1995, is funded by a retired library paraprofessional who recognizes the value of support staff development. The scholarship is meant to assist a Virginia paraprofessional who is unable to acquire local funding to attend the Forum's Spring two-day conference. Awarded annually, it will provide full conference fees to a deserving paraprofessional. You may nominate a colleague or yourself. The entry should include the name of the nominee, the library where the nominee is associated, and two to three paragraphs describing why the nominee deserves this scholarship. The "Outstanding Paraprofessional Award" is presented to a deserving Virginia paraprofessional at the VLAPF Spring Conference. This award is presented annually to an individual who: -has been a member of VLA for at least one year -demonstrates excellence in performance in his/her field of experience -fosters communication among library employees throughout the Commonwealth -advances and strengthens the image of paraprofessionals You may nominate a colleague or yourself. Submit a brief description of the nominee with a justification of why you feel the candidate is deserving of the award. This may include a list of activities, programs, and organization participation, recognition or awards, innovative support staff development activities, or other noteworthy achievements in the workplace. Include the name and library of the nominator.
