This is a full-time twelve-month academic staff appointment. The title of Academic Librarian or Senior Academic Librarian will be assigned depending on the credentials of the successful candidate. Benefits include 22 vacation days, sick leave, group health and life insurance and a state retirement plan. Minimum salary: $42,000. The Acquisitions Coordinator will provide leadership in the development and coordination of acquisition policies and procedures governing the ordering, receipt, and payment of materials processed by CTS staff. The CTS Division is organized into four subject-based departments responsible for carrying out the acquisitions, cataloging, and catalog editing services for the fifteen libraries it serves. The Acquisitions Coordinator is a member of the CTS management team, reports to the Assistant Director for Central Technical Services, and works closely with the Associate Director of Collection Development and Preservation. In fiscal year 97/98 collection budget expenditures will exceed $5,400,000. DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION: Required: MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program; minimum of five years� acquisitions experience in a research or academic library; excellent skills in oral and written communication; strong service orientation and problem-solving abilities; excellent grasp of the domestic and foreign book and serials trade; significant experience in fiscal management; familiarity with bibliographic control issues; experience with bibliographic utilities and integrated library management systems; excellent analytical and organizational skills. RESPONSIBILITIES: This position serves as the primary technical services contact with library vendors; is responsible for final resolution of problems regarding all aspects of acquisitions; works with subject specialists on profiles for approval plans, blanket orders and other agreements established with vendors or consortia; represents the Division on various committees; works with the Associate Director for Collection Development and Preservation in monitoring the collection budget; and assists in the examination and evaluation of license agreements for electronic resources.
