v.285:no.5426 is dated July 16
v.285:no.5427 is dated July 23
v.285:no.5428 is dated July 30 (cover says no.5427, inside says no. 5428)

If you check the inside table of contents page you will find that the July
30 issue is v.285 #5428. The number on the outside of the magazine did not

I have a July 23rd issue of Science, vol. 285 No. 5427. The front is of
cross sections of Arabidopsis flowers (image width, 0.56mm)... Kind of
looks like green bubbles with blue and orange masses in the middle. I
haven't received a July 30th issue yet, but do have, July 9th to the 23rd.

July 30th issue is incorrect, the inside contents page has the correct
number. We have received, v. 285, no. 5426, for July 16, v. 285, no. 5427
for July 23rd, and v. 285, no. 5428 for July 30th. Hope this clears up the
problem for you.

It appears to be a numbering error on the spine and cover of the
issues in question. We have checked in all issues for July, and the July
23 issue is numbered correctly on the title page as 5427; the July 30
issue is numbered correctly on the t.p. as 5428.

The publisher didn't fail to publish July 23 issue but misprint the cover
of no.5428 to no.5427. So what we have now should be:
v.285:no.5426 (July 16,1999)____ok
v.285:no.5427 (July 23,1999)____ok
v.285:no.5428 (July 30,1999)____on the cover, misprinted as no.5427, but
inside (no.5428) is correct.

A staff member at Tech looked into this and it looks like 30 July 1999 was
mismarked on the front cover as v. 285 no. 5427. If you look inside the
issue it is actually v. 285 no. 5428. So you should have:
23 July 1999 no. 5427
30 July 1999 no. 5428 (mismarked)
The next issue should be 6 August 1999, no. 5429.
