Please excuse any duplication. Acquisitions/Serials Librarian. Stapleton Library at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP)seeks applicants for the position of Acquisitions/Serials Librarian. This is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The job begins in Spring 2000. This is a 9-month position with additional summer employment possible. Salary, minimum: $37,465.80 with an excellent fringe benefit package. Salary will be based upon education and experience. Responsibilities: Manage monographic and serials acquisitions for the main library and branches at an Endeavor Voyager site; direct associated public service desks; serve as primary liaison with vendors; oversee growing collection of electronic resources; monitor and bring forward developments in electronic publishing. Supervise four to five staff; work closely with the Collection Development Librarian. Serve at the main reference desk some hours each week, serve as a bibliographer for selected disciplines, and may provide some bibliographic instruction. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS, second master's or doctorate required for tenure; at least two years' experience in academic acquisitions or serials assignment; knowledge of the book and serials trade; experience in fiscal management and data analysis; familiarity with issues of bibliographic control; working knowledge of OCLC and integrated library systems; knowledge of technical issues associated with electronic publishing and internet development; at least one year substantive supervisory experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong service orientation and problem-solving skills; ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and supportive manner; willingness to foster cooperation across boundaries, within and without the library. In order to become a finalist, candidates must communicate effectively and perform well during the interview(s), which may include a teaching demonstration. In accordance with the terms of collective bargaining agreement between the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and faculty union, APSCUF, the successful candidate may be assigned to perform work at off-campus sites and/or provide instruction through distance education.
