Hello all,

As 20018 comes to a close I want to thank all of you for all the material that has be shared with me here on the TML and for putting up with a daft old retired submarine sailor over the years. I hope that those who have lost loved ones can take the time to reflect on the time they had with those who have gone before and feel the spirit of love.

Next my wandering thoughts go to three people for more thanks in keeping me with things to do: Jeff Zeitlin for his efforts on Freelance Traveller which is one of the highlights of my day, Bruce Johnson for taking the time to keep the TML up and running, and finally Timothy Collinson for his bibliographies and updates on his gaming sessions.

Well thank you.  And thank you for putting up with *my* ramblings.  Which reminds me... I ought to do some periodical bibliography work on my day off tomorrow... so much to do, so little time between sleeps.  (I made my nephew laugh when he proudly told me there were only 8 sleeps till Christmas and I said I had 32 sleeps till Christmas (one night per day and three 'stops' per day!).

I hoping that Jeff Zeitlin's request for new material has borne fruit and now has enough to put out a several future issues of Freelance Traveller.

Well, if I keel over tomorrow or am run over by a bus, I reckon he might have enough for a memorial issue.  Assuming he wants the bits I've sent his way.  Of course, I can't sustain that pace for very long.

nt on the hunt. When the Solar Queen returned to Earth's system they where tagged as a plague ship which sealed all ports against them. Of course the Solar Queen overcomes the problems but because of how the four handled the events lost the contract.

The submission idea would be how would a "Plague Ship" be handled in Traveller.

Some very quick thoughts:
- the PCs are turned away, as you say, from world after world.  They'd better be able to refuel elsewhere than the mainworld to be able to Jump onwards but sooner or later other supplies are going to run out necessitating a stop.  Either on an 'empty' world where they can hunt for their own food etc or on a world with low enough tech that they can't be stopped from doing the same.  But air filters etc could be a problem.
- or alternatively, they're able to persuade a world to 'dump' the supplies they need at a point they can rendezvous with the dump without having to put anyone's atmosphere or orbital station at risk
- or perhaps they end up looking for help at a base they discover to be a renowned pirate hideout - do they care who they infect?
- or a world agrees to have them land in some remote place where they won't cause harm, promises supplies and - perhaps - after a change of government or something - they get forgotten about.  Of course the 'remote place' has nasty critters outside that are hungry (but perhaps also have blood/eggs/something that will affect a cure
- or for a really bleak scenario, the infection starts affecting the crew in a really painful nasty way that can only lead to death and there's nowhere but high pop worlds in the vicinity.  They decide to make the ultimate sacrifice and set the navigation system for the nearest star...
- or perhaps they encounter an alien ship that welcomes them with open arms - their 'infection' is actually a much needed medicine or highly sought after pleasure drug.

Does that help kick start an idea or two?  I mus tsleep now... very tired.  If none of the above makes sense, ask me in the morning.

Finally, I am hoping that 2019 has more ups than downs for everyone.

to you too - all the best
