No. When you open a missile bay, you stick the missile out into the airflow while it's still attached to the rail. With a bomb bay, The bombs stay inside until they're released. When you release them and they enter the airflow, they're not attached to the aircraft, so the drag only affects the bombs themselves.

MT Consolidated Errata v2.21 (02/23/2013) p. 62 added a missile bay which I believe is similar the the internal bays used by the F-102 and F-106. The Missile Bay entry on errata indicates that the bay has a drag of (1) which I take to mean when the bay is opened to launch a missile or rocket.


MT COACC Weapon Mounts Table p. 33 has the internal bomb bay as having a Drag of 0 (zero). I agree that with the bomb bay doors closed the Drag is zero, however when the doors are open drag is created. I believe that the Bomb Bay Drag should be changed for 0 to (1).


Is changing the internal bomb bay Drag to (1) a good idea?
