For me CT will always be the best altho I do prefer CT w/ DGP's 'task system' grated on. Sometimes referred to as 'T1.5' with CT as '1.0' & MT as '2.0'.
All that was accomplished by adding on all the extra complication was the creation of a colossal mess of bugs, typos, etc & then they also totally messed up the timeline.

Alway6s liked CT and NT - still create characters and write novelettes using them as a base! Never felt the need to "advance" up the line! Just seems like a money-making plan for collectors of rare items.

I'm tired of every edition being billed as "the One!", until the next edition.?? And it seems with each edition the complexity goes up, the playability goes down, and what used to be fun to prep for makes my Managerial Economics final look positively enjoyable.??

While I am not going to pan T5 much. I will point out in recent years I returned to CT and it's children in MgT and CE.

I really wonder how many new gamers, that is, new to Traveller or just new to the concept, T5 has created.

Most of the new players I am seeing are entering through MgT ot CT surprisingly enough.

There is no Traveller but Classic Traveller, and High Guard is its' starship design and combat system.
