Hello Ethan,

Thank you for the supportive comment and the fact of the matter is that this project is, for the most part, keeping out of trouble.

I made a small error in my comments. My correction is that I did not consider the master fire control directors, but I did retain the mechanical reloaders from TNE. Without the mechanical reloaders there is a need to have additional crew members to do the loading of the missiles by hand. Using the TNE space missile launcher magazine procedure is a home brewed rule.

An alternate way is to still use the bays as written without the hardpoint requirement and rename them to something a 50 tube missile launcher system with a magazine. In the UCP Off block the annotation would be Missile x10. As one of the last entries in the UCP Other block there would be the annotation that the 50 tube missile launcher is a 100-ton missile and does not need 10 hardpoints.

I've also found additional errata for the two part article A MegaTraveller Starship Design Example by Joe D. Fugate Sr. (Traveller Digest #13 and #21) that was edited by Donald McKinney. The majority, if not all, of the changes made by Donald McKinney were numbers and math. I'm finding additional number and math issues. The majority of the new errata is changes made to the volume of the systems. The biggest math errata occurred when determining the number of hardpoints which uses the total hull volume of 1,010,000 in the weapons section.

I do agree with Joe D. Fugate Sr. that having the power supply section as the second item installed in the MT Referee's Manual Craft design procedure is a bit early. The process in the article edited by Donald McKinney is not, at least for me clicking completely.

Thanks again,

Tom, great work as usual. Just proves how important it is to grind through everything and double-check it!

Morning all,

The MT: COACC project is still on-going but has been diverted by the Guardian-Class Orbital Battle Station while I'm trying to build a new spreadsheet for the MT Referee's Manual Craft Design procedure with errata following on the two part article A MegaTraveller Starship Design Example by Joe D. Fugate Sr. (Traveller Digest #13 and #21) that was edited by Donald McKinney.

During the process of building the new spreadsheet I may have figured out the reason why the designer used a 100-ton missile which fits with the comments made by Cian Weatherspoon and Thomas Jones-Low.

The MT Referee's Manual does not have a means to build non-standard systems that give the same punch as a spacecraft missile bay or turret. In this case the designer used a 100-ton bay.

The MT Consolidated Errata does add rocket launchers and miscellaneous slug throwers which does not help the Guardian-Class.

I took a look at CT Striker Book 3 but the ranges of the communicators appear to be to short and moved on to TNE FF&S Mk I Mod 1 (January 1994) using Space Missile Launchers procedure on page 151 substituting the data from MT Referee's Manual Craft Design tables.

In FF&S the standard space missile launcher has a standard-crew station, a 300,000 km range laser communicator, and one or more launchers. Additions may include active and passive sensors, master fire control directors, and mechanical reloaders.

A search of my PDF MT Referee's Manual did not find a table of master fire control directors or reloaders so those additions are not considered.

The specifics for a missile magazine with a mechanical reloader is not in MT Referee's Manual either but they are computed using the specifications of the missile being used so I used them when designing a missile launcher system for the Guardian-Class Orbital Battle Station. At least I'm hoping that I followed the directions and made the correct modifications to convert TNE to MT

50 Tube Missile Launcher System TL 12

Adequate Crew Position: Volume = 3 kl; Weight = 0.02 MT; Price = Cr100

Planetary Radio Communicator: Volume = 0.0026 kl; Weight = 0.0013 MT; Price = Cr30,000

50 tubes: Volume = 5 kl; Weight = 2.5 MT; Price = Cr3,500

50 missile magazine: Volume = 5 kl; Weight = 1.75 DT; Price = Cr175

50 mechanical reloaders: Volume = 2.5 kl; Weight = 1.25; Price = Cr250

TL 12 50 Tube Missile Launcher System with Planetary Radio Communicator

Volume = 15.5026 kl; Weight = 5.5213; Price = Cr34,025

50 Tube Missile Launcher System TL 12

Adequate Crew Position: Volume = 3 kl; Weight = 0.02 MT; Price = Cr100

Planetary Laser Communicator: Volume = 0.0036 kl; Weight = 0.0018 MT; Price = Cr36,000

50 tubes: Volume = 5 kl; Weight = 2.5 MT; Price = Cr3,500

50 missile magazine: Volume = 5 kl; Weight = 1.75 DT; Price = Cr175

50 mechanical reloaders: Volume = 2.5 kl; Weight = 1.25; Price = Cr250

TL 12 50 Tube Missile Launcher System with Planetary Laser Communicator

Volume = 15.5360 kl; Weight = 5.5380; Price = Cr40,025

The data for the launchers is based on one communicator the data changes if there is a communicator for each missile.
