You might want to check out the Ken and Robin Talk About Stuff podcast, episode 105 "Does this look like a railroad to you?" They start this episode with a general discussion about running one-shots and time limited convention games. In my experience (and opinion), their advice is usually worth listening to.

Hi Gang,

Looking for some group wisdom. I've recently found out there is a DnD group that meets once a month at our local library. So I'm going lurk down there and see if I can drum up some interest in a Traveller game.

Only problem is I've only ever GM'd campaigns lasting months or years. So I'm looking for some hints and tips for running a one shot game lasting 3-4 hours. Anyone point me to some ideas?

Cheers,

Brett.
