Feeling cooped up, locked down, shut in?
Experiencing limited horizons?
Seeing the same old faces?
Facing an uncertain future?

Generation X contains adventure set on and around a generation starship.  The core adventure allows the Referee to either explore the departure of such a ship, events along the way or at the destination, and perhaps the standard trope of regression along the way.  It can be used in conjunction with Supplement 12: Dynasty for those who wish to use those rules to link the generations together and develop factions – but this isn’t required.

In addition, the book includes Rendezvous with Karma by Stephen J. Ellis which can be used as a completely separate standalone adventure with characters from Charted Space finding and exploring a generation ship or which can be used in conjunction with Generation X to create a complex scenario of different groups of characters meeting each other.

There is also a look at every occurrence of generation ships in the entire corpus of Traveller over more than forty years, as well as notes on the role playing game Metamorphosis Alpha.

Finally, as a bonus work-in-progress there are three ‘further reading’ sections consisting of annotated bibliographies of non-fiction material on the subject of generation ships, fiction and audio-visual items such as films, graphic novels and music.  This wealth of material can be used to inspire Traveller role playing or simply as an excursion into the genre with enough to keep those interested going for, well, perhaps an entire voyage!
