The Virtual Map actually makes the 3D vastly easier than tabletop, unless you're both well experienced and good at 3D visualization.

Somebody did a video showing how the tabletop game works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knIuV9gAxtw

They also have a full play video, but it shows the equivalent of the tabletop, not the Virtual Map. Still, you'll learn a lot about the game. I can't vouch for it being error-free because I haven't watched the whole thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGyX4wecaJc

If nothing else, there's a very long actual play video using the Virtual Map at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kwg8osPEPDI. 2 hours, 40 minutes! It's also 2 years old, so there have been all sorts of improvements since then. I don't recommend it unless you have nothing better to do.

There's a 20 minute video on using the Ship System Displays in the Virtual Map system (this is a recent enhancement). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAhQrypLV6A

There's a UI reference at https://drive.google.com/open?id=1U0t-TOy9bXt8o55hENvPqasI0B_Mj8OUkv8xNsIy0tI, but it doesn't include the very latest enhancements,

Thanks for the well wishes. Heart and lungs are okay, blood work showed elevated white count which could mean she's coming down with... something. Go home, wait, watch for any symptoms, and if something changes, back to emerg... meanwhile, distancing and her being isolated from the rest of us.

Glad the lungs and heart parts were no issue. For the rest, time will tell.

I may or may not be able to join tomorrow.

I've played various faux vector combat systems (usually acceleration and velocity are kind of messed up in those systems, but you get the idea of vector movement). 3D is more of a challenge, but the approach Ken has taken is more manageable than any other I've seen.

I did take a look at the UI for the scenario, but I found it a bit complex without much context at the time.

So sorry to hear about your wife's troubles. It's a very dangerous time to be in I'll health.

Fingers crossed for her, and hope to see you.

I just dropped my wife at the ER. Depending on how the chest xray and heart checkup goes, I will sign up for the teaching game as I haven't played AVT for years now (and only twice then). I do like the idea of terrain... I'm a fan of fights around terrain (infantry roots showing).

Teaching game of Squadron Strike: Traveller tomorrow at 1pm ET. (1700 GMT/UTC)

Solomani Rim War playtests at the same time. Should be another set of games of "The Imperium Strikes Back." The play balance is getting fine-tuned, so we shouldn't see blowouts. Trying to shoot up a space station that's orbiting a moon at 3 hexes per turn is an interesting challenge.

"Open fire!"

"Oops. The station's behind the moon ..."

Most likely, two Madrid CLs (Fighting Ships of the Solomani Confederation) vs. Midu Agashaam DDs (CT Supplement 9, etc., etc.).

You have to register so that they can keep bots out.

No need to buy the game or anything. Teachers on hand!
