A minor point, but IIRC, the pods on the Annic Nova are the pinnaces and have nothing to do with the jump drive?

And while the 1977 version of CT didn't require a matching power plant for the Jump drive, HG onwards did - which MM's article in JTAS#24 (1985) explicitly stated was because the power plant charged the jump drive. It was only with the advent of MT that the Jump Drive acquired its own internal power plant, which has been the situation since. So, it's canon if you are using 1977 CT, or MT or later... ;^D

Well, that design does have the additional deficiency that you're not going
to be able to jump in, take bearings on your next destination, tank up at
the starport, and jump out, all in a single day or so; the charge rate is
low enough that you're gonna have a few days to do a spacewalkaround, check
for damage, possibly _repair_ some of that damage, decide whether your next
jump should be done with the J2 or the J3 and move the pod with the correct
drive to center-aft on the main hull, instead of stuck out on the pylon,
etc....

I believe that it is canon that the Jump Drive does not operate of the
ship's power plant; it contains its own power plant (the BHHR in my
thread-starting handwave) for sucking up the jump fuel and initiating jump.
