Scenario balance is a fine art and was in Harpoon back then.

I got handed an air unit (I want to say a PC-3 Orion, but I doubt that because it had some sort of air to surface missiles). Anyway, there were two russian ships - Krivak and something else. I came in just maybe 30 degrees off their course, really low to the waves. Due to their emissions, I had them spotted before they spotted me. I emptied my wing pylons (I think I had 4 ASMs). I then had nothing to offer, turned, and left the battlespace without ever physically seeing the enemy.

Due to the geometry, they detected the ASMs late and tried to turn to bring the point defense into alignment, but didn't get good coverage. I think I damaged both ships and one was adrift on fire by the time my missiles were all done with. And they never saw my plane.

Maybe a realistic scenario, but maybe not the most fun....

If you go to RMC, you'll come out with a degree (my brother-in-law did Management Engineering and my other pal from there did Electrical/Computer Engineering with focus on crypto). Bryan went into the RCAF to work on F-18 related projects (and some other birds) and JP went to Communications (a separate branch from the Army) and then into civilian Crypto work (now he's engineering head of crypto4A). So you may have had some choices of where you went after RMC, but I think your degree tended to direct your service choice.

Yes they are all like Royal Military College, full scale universities. The degrees offered varies with institution.

Heh, I taught several Booter-Brown-Bars and muddied AH' Naval War and Harpoon on nav plotting table of the Constellation one summer.
