The way we play and the way I want to spend time in preparation (on richness of characters, agendas, friction points, and tools and tactics) is aided by having bunches of stuff automatically created within the bounds of the rules of the game.

This leads to my biggest gripe/worry/problem with respect using computer.

I've always found that, inevitably, one winds up w/i the creator's version of whatever rules set it is supposed to be emulating.
I suppose this should be no surprise as it's been something of a tradition for authors of the various Trav pubs to change what they don't like into something they do like.

Still, it bugs me.

p..s. Using the aforementioned example of 'MicroProse's' old 'MegaTraveller' crpg (which was actually was set in pre-5FW  TU in which success meant that the war was averted & thus an alternate TL was established), I finally realized I was NOT playing any version of Trav extant up to then.
What I was playing was more accurately described as 'MicroProse Traveller' (MP-T?) to distinguish it from the others.
I still enjoyed the game & wish they had been able  to release the 3rd Adventure before GDW axed MT & launched TNE.
Can you please repeat the MicroProse title please. I purchased and lost the floppy discs for Paragon Software's MT 1 The Zhodani Conspiracy and MT 2 Quest For the Ancients, but I books for both games.

Those were the titles of the two products that were released, AFAIK, for MS-DOS only.

The third one was supposed to be w/i 6 months of release (they were coming out on an annual basis) when GDW killed MT for TNE.
I don't recall if the title had been finalized/announced yet but it was to be ever more far ranging than the 2nd one with the player venturing into Vargr-land coreward of the S'Marches & even the ability to play a vargr character.
