My dad, born in Canada, used it, as did his dad, born in Dunfermline, Scotland in 1898. I may have heard my cousin Alan, born in Motherwell, Scotland use it too. It may have originated in Guernsey but I believe is used more broadly in Scotland. I seem to recall a song lyric featuring it.
