Evening Craig Berry,

I may be mistaken, but I believe Richard Aiken clicked on a link
provided in the topic and was not using Google or any other search
engine.

Google can get away with such actions and if the US government
did the same thing people would be screaming about rights being
trampled.

Of course I would only get concerned if I could access the site.

Have a good one,

Tom Rux

That wasn't lash-back, just a word to the wise. If Google detects that a page behaves differently for the crawler, that page, and often the whole site, gets severely penalized in search ranking. So if being found via Google search matters to you, you'll want to avoid having that happen.

Howdy all,

COTI requires members to be logged in to access
forum content. I have found myself somehow logged
off of the forum and al that is needed is to log-in.

Yep, having to log-in is a bit of a bother, but not
enough to cause this sort of lash back in my opinion.

Note that if pages are visible to the Google crawler but not to humans, the site risks being severely penalized when (not if) Google determines this is happening.

That link comes up with a blank starfield for me.

*sigh* The COTI forum is apparently configured to only show the first entry unless you're signed in. Which is (a) obnoxious and (b) confusing given that it's indexed by search engines (e.g. try googling "travellerrpg imperiallines 3/4" - the top hits are perfectly useless). I'll raise the issue with the admins.
