Morning Guy Garnett,

While waiting for comments on the eight sensor packages posted to date I have started work on the Communications section of the QSDS 1.5e on pages 11 and 12.

A couple of items have come up that appear to need clarification.

1. The QSDS 1.5e process requires the selection of at least one communications package. However, the blank Universal Ship Description (USD) format on page 1 and the instructions on filling in the USD on pages 21-22 do not include details for the selected communications package or packages. Was the entry overlooked and should some sort of entry be added for communicators? I have submitted errata to add the communicators to the USD on the COTI T4 forum and/or the Consolidated T4 errata sub-forum.

2. Preliminary testing using TNE FF&S p. 49 has the basic package radio with a range of 30,000 km versus the 3,000 km range described in the overview on page 11. Is the basic package’s range 3,000 km? Is the QSDS 1.5e radio using the T4 FF&S optional feature rules as discussed on the TML on April 30, 2015?

3. Per the QSDS 1.5e overview the Improved package swaps the 1,000 AU laser with, I am guessing, an 1,000 AU Maser. Does QSDS 1.5e use the TNE FF&S page 49 Maser communicator or the T4 FF&S Tight Beam Radio?

4. The QSDS 1.5e Advanced packages have one laser and two masers installed. The overview indicates that the 1,000 AU laser is a back-up system. Does the 1,000 AU laser require power and crew? Is the second maser a back-up system? Does the second maser require power and crew?
