Almost all US DoD major weapon platform designs are incredibly expensive, largely because of the culture which insists on integrating immature technologies into the designe, this causing constant design iteration, and therefore renegotiation of the requirements, which renders the PMO just administrators rather than managers.

The end result is that designs are delivered decades late, often massively over the budget, and rarely able to perform what was originally wanted by the customer or the users.

Yep. And the latest American subs are INCREDIBLY expensive. Might some of that expense be due to titanium hull construction?
