At some point I need to stop crying today. Meanwhile, thank you, Douglas.

Hey, folks.

We were able to add a photo of Loren to the mass of memorials in this year's Temple at Burning Man.

I apologize for the quality of the photo, but it was at night and we had to place Loren fairly high up due to every other space within reach already having been taken. The Temple is a sobering place. In one corner, I found an empty can of Schlitz nailed to a post with a faded photo of two soldiers in Vietnam, standing in front of a barrel burn. All that was written was "Burning shit before it was cool."

The Temple burn is the last official act of Burning Man, and this year it was magnificent. A mostly silent crowd of nearly 40,000 stood as the flames spread, quickly becoming an inferno. The tower was designed as a chimney, with multiple entrances at the bottom. So a constant flow of embers were shooting up and out of sight. I had to think that one of them was Loren, burning for orbit and the 100 diameter limit.

And a video of the Temple Burn. It's an hour long but gives you the full experience, san dust.
