There's a lot of nitrogen about; it is the 6th or 7th most abundant element in the solar system.

Gas giants like Jupiter and Saturn have abundances of about 0.03% by mass, mainly in the form of ammonia.

The jury is out for Uranus and Neptune.

I don't think breathing gear reliability is a problem - it is a very mature technology with millenia of experience in the Traveller setting.

Operator error? Probably mitigated by inbuilt decision support systems and safety monitoring by Tech Level 10 at the latest.

This doesn't apply to "hold my beer and watch this" scenarios.
