For those who may be interested in obtaining a copy, Low Level Hell is available on Kindle for £3.49 or Kobo for either £4.99 or £4.53.

Chickenhawk is also available for £5.49 on both platforms. (Presumably, they'll be available as B&N ebooks as well, but since they've stopped trading in the UK, I can't check.)

'morning,

I was haunting a charity shop yesterday and more by chance than design stumbled across _Low Level Hell_ by Hugh Mills.  I've no idea what made me spot it in the first place, as it was in a section of non-fiction hardbooks I don't often look at in my quest for SF paperbacks but something made me take a second look and splash out a couple of quid ($3) on it.

It's about a scout pilot in the Vietnam war flying an OH-6A (Loach) and I suddenly twigged it might do as background reading for the TL6 forces surrounding my PCs in the Wolf at the Door chapter of The Traveller Adventure.

Well, it's more than that.  It's a cracking read.  As evidenced by the fact that I've already read 5 chapters without really trying.  Fascinating.  (And yes, grist to the mill for any Traveller ref running that sort of TL adventure.  I'm learning lots about the helicopters, the weapons (mounted and personal) they'd carry, tactics and so on.  Expect more helicopter action next time, players!)

It's odd, though.  The only other Vietnam war book I've read, many many years ago when I was in Asia and regularly heard Hueys flying overhead in the Philippines for examples, was _Chickenhawk_ by Robert Mason.  It's the memoirs of a Huey pilot in Vietnam and immediately after.  I also recall it being a riveting book.  So I seem to be specializing on helicopter warfare in Vietnam...

Anyway, it's not strictly Traveller but I figured there might be many here who'd be interested or find it relevant if you can track it down in a library or second hand.
