Meanwhile, on the Bridge Bannerji pulls out a pistol on Kunal mainly because I remembered he said he did in the book.

I remember this bit very vividly, from playing through it with my college group.

Desmond (Unofficial Player Leader) takes Bannerji to the bridge. The player says: "I have him sit at the pilot's station, then I sit at the co-pilot's station. I keep him covered with my pistol the whole time, remaining on the alert in case he tries to jump me."

But then Desmond gets into a detailed discussion - over the ship's intercom system - with Joe (whose PC is the engineer) about getting the power plant and maneuver drive fired up. IMTU there is a very long checklist for bringing these up from a cold start but - inspired by the Vargr outside - Desmond roleplays browbeating a cautious Joe into cutting this to bare bones.

It's several real-time minutes before Desmond turns back to me and says, "Well, Bannerji . . ."

I interrupt by pointing - in total silence - my extended forefinger and "cocked" thumb at Desmond.

Desmond blinks, then continues mildly: ". . . where did you get that, might I ask?"

I shrug - very slightly, keeping my "aim" rock steady - and reply, "From the built-in holster under my console. I've got one at each station, in case of occasions like this."

Desmond breaks character with: "Richard, that's *brilliant!* Remind me to install the same in the March Harrier, after we get out of this!"
