Traveller Annual maintenance is just the cost of the equipment and two weeks of shipyard drydock and labour to the maintenance.

It doesn't account for the crew salaries, or lifesupport, or fuel, or berthing costs ...

I just saw a costing for a Nimitz-class carrier, and they run at about that too, including the purchase price, refit costs, and disposal costs (including of the reactor fuel). Of course, they're looking at a 40-50 year or more service life, which spreads the fixed costs a lot. Also, that didn't include the air wing, and aircraft cost a *lot* to run (on the other hand they're also very pricey, so it may still work out for them).
