I rip off the model of LMB in the Vorkosigan books for a very workable
Imperial oath structure. The oath is individual, to the person
directly above, like a knight to his lord in feudal England, though
only those who are vassals secondus may normally swear individuals
below them to their service.

I also use the idea that only 20 armsmen are allowed to a noble and
that things like the "2000 cooks" gambit would gain the noble the same
ending that it did to Vorloupulous in that universe.
