Their adventures are well-thought of, especially the long campaigns like
Pirates of Drinax.

Despite several read-throughs, and attempts to give it an honest shake,
I do not like the system, for reasons ranging from niggling to
fundamental. I think most of it is about tone - Traveller has always
been, in its descriptions of equipment, etc., a 'pseudo-hard' SF game.
MgT doesn't have that veneer of plausibility. Fusion guns actually fire
radioactive bolts, shotguns require considerable strength to use
(presumably because they're gnarly weapons, or for 'balance'), and so on.
