Freelance Traveller gets even more multilingual... Jeff Zeitlin 05 Mar 2024 23:52 UTC

Those of you who read _Freelance Traveller_ know that we carry translations
of articles from _Vuelo Raso_, a Spanish-language Traveller-and-M_Space
fanzine put out in northern Spain. _Vuelo Raso_ also carries translations
of articles from _Freelance Traveller_.

Recently, I received an inquiry from a gentleman in the Republic of China
asking permission to translate some articles from _Freelance Traveller_
into Chinese (Traditional orthography, not the simplified orthography of
the People's Republic). Those two translations will be posted to Freelance
Traveller's website when the next issue posts for download. If you read
Chinese in the traditional orthography, have at!

The two articles are Mr Collinson's on starship interior décor, and mine on
building a financial profile for a starship.

The translations were originally posted to the translator's blog, at
https://home.gamer.com.tw/artwork.php?sn=5854961 for Mr Collinson's
article, and https://home.gamer.com.tw/artwork.php?sn=5854378 for mine.

(Is this going to signal to Mongoose that they Just Might Have A Market in
Taiwan?)

I'm also going to take this opportunity to remind folks that I'm willing to
work with others in other languages as well. You don't have to be a fanzine
editor to play; just having an interest in Traveller, fluency in
not-English, and an audience for Traveller in not-English is enough. And
the audience might be optional...
