Actually, yeah, that's about WW2 range.  Naval guns of the period could
literally engage targets over the horizon (not a problem in space,
obviously) with data provided by spotters and/or radar.

If the target is visible to the naked eye, then the range is probably
unrealistically short for space combat.  This is, in turn, almost always
due to the need to make the target visible, and the action interesting,
to the eyes of the audience.
