 About a dozen
years later we had record floods again. But nobody
remembered where the slabs were. It's
 thought that sometime in the
 interim,
somebody who didn't know what they were sold them off as

scrap. But nobody knows for sure.

I worked in the IT dept at a college for 30 years & this kind of stuff happened over & over.

Any time we remodelled there were some materials that were *supposed* to go 'into storage'.
Each & every time we tried to recover the material/s, it had always 'disappeared'.

But then just about anything that was left laying about for long enough would eventually 'disappear' unless it was locked away w/ limited access.

We used to keep a number of laptops(for staff to use as necessary) locked in a safe w/i the server room.
One time, someone left it unlocked, &, sure enough, a couple laptops 'went west'.

Caused a really big stink cuz' it turned out that the whole dept had the access code to open to the doors to the server room when only a restricted few were supposed to actually have those codes.
