 I just can't see the K'Kree going with a
 'cringe, cower, & crawl' option.

Just hoping & praying that THE EVIL will leave them
alone from now on doesn't seem very, well,
 'K'Kree-like' to me.

As fanatics I believe they'd react to this existential
threat by calling for a redoubling of effort, whether it was
 possible or not.

"We have to wipe them from the face of the universe,
or, assuredly, they will do worse than destroy us".

 That's a very powerful motivator & running &
hiding (like a herd of springbucks?) is not one that would
 even occur to them.

I see the K'kree as behaving more like a herd of african
 elephants.

Out of curiosity, can you imagine anything that
 would stop the K'kree?

 Because the way you
describe them, *any* sort of setback would seem to have them
 increasing their efforts.
 Which seems sort of
 silly.

It's hardly silly to expect them to redouble their efforts against an existential threat like the Hivers proved themselves to be.
Esp when they were already beating them!
Nothing will ever stop them from *trying*.
They're that kind of society.
And so are the vargr, for that matter, though in a much different way.
Keep beating them back & keep preparing for the next try.
