Jumping w/o refuelling, was Re: [TML] L-Hyd not necessary for jumping & misc.... Phil Pugliese 18 May 2016 16:38 UTC

Lot's of ships can jump w/o refuelling.

Even a J2 Scoutship can.

It just does a J1, using 1/2 it's fuel, & then does another J1 using the other 1/2.

Of course this assumes that it is equipped w/ a 'drive governor'.

 As much as
I love playing the "make ALL the canon
consistent!!" game, I think we have to toss Annic Nova
if we are to maintain any semblance of sanity in the
background. Even if you handwave an explanation (my favorite
is the usual dodge that its drive is a one-of-a-kind Ancient
artifact), it makes no sense at all that reports of a ship
that could jump without refueling didn't trigger an all
out, every-ship-committed effort by the Imperium to locate
 the ship for study.

In JTAS #1 or #2 is found the 'AnnicNova' a unique
idiosyncratic starship that can unfurl solar collectors in
 order to charge it's jumpdrive.

So, no L-Hyd is actually required to initiate, leave, or
 travel thru j-space.

Also, as far as Xboat life support goes (no PP) I can
imagine lots of ways to provide the power to keep life
support going long enough for travel thru j-space, exit,
& recovery as I'm sure we all can.

Remember that  in the supp that detailed the ships of the
S'Marches there was detailed the 50dT heavy fighter
which was carried by the Tigress & other BB's. It is
mentioned that the fighter is capable of independent
operation for an extended period of time. Several weeks I
believe. Now it does have a PP but this illustrates that
very small craft can & are designed to operate for
 lengthy periods on their own.
