Didn't 'Flying Buffalo' publish solo dungeons using their 'Tunnels & Trolls' game system?
I imagine they had just this kind of situation in mind.

 counted myself lucky to have a brother and some close
 friends who loved RPGs as much as I did.  As with many
 gamers, growing up meant it was harder to find people of a
 similar bent and I've always loved Traveller for the
 solo play and just world creation and it's been a
 special way to spend the rare free hours I've had over
