I know I'm really dating myself here but I still have a map of Mars, published by NatGeo, & incl as an insert w/i one of their mags, incorporating "the latest data" from the earliest NASA space-probe 'fly-bys'.
On that map there is a line drawn around the Hellas 'depression' w/i which there is text to the effect that the atmo pressure *could* be high enough for liquid water to exist on the surface!
