There's the old Dr Who episode, 'Horror of Fang Rock' (4th Doc & Leela) where a side issue concerns a businessman racing (chartered a fast sailing boat to cross the Channel in a severe storm) to get to the London Stock Exchange before news of some 'BIG DEAL'(tm) that had occurred in Paris has time to get there. Apparently no telegraph or lines down. Could fit right into the TU right down to the monster (Horror)!

Yes, J6 is for transporting people and information, not
 cargo.

If something happens that moves markets in a big
fashion; you can bet that megacorps and really wealthy
individuals will have zero compunction about beating the
X-boats out to take advantage of it ahead of everyone
 else.

 who cares about spending
megacredits in transport costs if it makes you gigacredits
 in profit?
