Solicitation for Freelance Traveller: Lord Galzar of Otherwhere Jeff Zeitlin 09 May 2020 22:38 UTC

Many of our members have undoubtedly read H. Beam Piper's _Lord Kalvan of
Otherwhen_, and quite possibly some of the John F. Carr sequelae thereto.
This is a classic "alternate history/crosstime transport" story, where a
Pennsylvania State Police officer, Calvin Morrison, is "dropped" on an
alternate Earth where history went quite differently, and Cpl Morrison has
nothing to "fall back" on other than his .38 Police Special and the limited
ammo he was carrying for it, plus his wits and knowledge.

Suppose the Zarthani civilization is actually on a world near the
Imperial/Vargr border, which is not actually part of the Imperium and has
no interstellar contact.

Now, suppose that a Vargr in a single-sophont starship - perhaps an
Imperial Vargr Scout in a classic Type S - crash-lands on this world. The
ship crashes into water, and sinks; the Vargr is able to get out, perhaps
with some _limited_ materiél from the Ship's Locker, and swim for shore.

Here's where you come in: Write the story of this Imperial Vargr Scout
being stranded among the Zarthani. Remember that the Zarthani pantheon
includes Galzar Wolf-head as the god of soldiers/fighters/warriors, so it's
not out of the question that our Scout is taken as an avatar of Galzar.
