Arms Trade In The 3I Kurt Feltenberger 28 Jul 2017 03:35 UTC

Forgotten Weapons just posted a lengthy Q&A with Nic Jenzen-Jones of
ARES where they discussed the state of modern small arms, emerging
developments, how non-government actors are armed, and the arms trade,
among other topics. The video is a goldmine of scenario fodder, but
also brings up the question of how regulated is the arms trade within
the 3I?

We have the law levels of the individual planets, the "interstellar law
level" that the 3I enforces via the IN, but I'm wondering about the
laws, policies, practices, and traditions when it comes to arms trade
between planets (government to government, government to non-government
actor, etc.) and whether this could/would/should factor into the
narrative. It would seem to me that there would be a very lucrative
trade, especially in areas where there are oppressive law
levels/governments, threats of war, and similar.
