The British ‘Worcester’ has no ‘h’, but is still pronounced ‘WUH-STER.
Nd some of the oddities are very unapparent. I remember a USAF exchange Major I used to work for, who pronounced Bracknell as ‘BRACK-NELL’ (which is the obvious way) but found out that it should have been ‘BRACK-NULL’
At least you’rer not having to mangle your way around Roman or Pictish place names!
